Nathalie Tresch: Emmanuel Carrère’s Secrets Revealed
The French writer Emmanuel Carrère reveals a family secret in his novel Un roman russe, a secret concerning his grandfather. Also, he affirms that all his former novels have been influenced by this secret that has haunted his live and his literature. We will show in this article to what extent a secret can be considered as the drive behind literary creation and how this creation takes part in the forming of the writer’s identity.
