The Centre for Research in the Humanities provides a common forum for research and research-related activities within the School of Humanities. The Centre is committed to interdisciplinary research and seeks to encourage and support cooperation and research projects involving scholars from different fields, locally and internationally.
The centre is a support office for all aspects of research at the School of Humanities, it mediates information on funding opportunities and assists in writing funding applications and in running research projects.
The Centre hosts an annual Humanities Conference and publishes a peer-reviewed journal in Icelandic, Ritið, with contributions from across the humanities.
The office of the Centre is part of the main office of the School of Humanities, located on the top floor in the Main Building (Aðalbygging).

Umbrella for nine research institutes
The Centre is an umbrella organisation for nine research institutes within the School of Humanities. Six institutes cover the main areas of research in the humanities and three additional institutes have more specific interdisciplinary focus.
